CUYAHOGA FALLS, OH, DECEMBER 21, 2022 – The Ohio Department of Health has recognized Western Reserve Hospital with the Ohio Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace Award – Gold Status. 

This program recognizes Ohio businesses offering lactation support to their employees, including establishing a breastfeeding policy, no-penalty break time for pumping, and providing a private space other than a bathroom that is accessible and comfortable for nursing employees. 

To achieve Gold Status, workplaces must meet at least nine other breastfeeding support guidelines, including but not limited to paid maternity leave, breastfeeding educational materials for nursing employees, and company health insurance plans that cover breastfeeding materials or services. 

The Ohio Department of Health launched the Ohio Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace Award Program in collaboration with the Ohio Breastfeeding Alliance in 2022. Designation remains valid for three years and renewal is required following that time.
