Western Reserve Hospital’s Center for Pain Medicine hosted the sold-out 8th annual American Interventional Headache Society’s (AIHS) Head and Neck BootCamp on Friday, May 21. Physicians from across the country visited the facility to observe live head and neck procedures.
Samer Narouze, MD, PhD, Chairman, Center of Pain Medicine, Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology and Neurosurgery at Ohio University and Ohio State University, and Dmitri Souza, Clinical Professor of Anesthesiology, Western Reserve Hospital, led the BootCamp.
The goal of the event is to enhance the learning experience needed for the management of difficult intractable head, neck and orofacial pain cases. Attendees had access to a full day of focused, intense clinical experience with an average of 20 head and neck procedures to observe, including:
- Trigeminal ganglion block/RFA
- Cervical facet nerve block
- Cervical facet RFA
- Botox injections
- SPG block
- Occipital nerve block
- Cervical nerve root injection
- Stellate ganglion block
- Atlantoaxial joint injection
- C2-3 joint and third occipital nerve block
- Cervical facet RFA
- SCS for neck, shoulder and upper extremity pain
