On Friday, November 11, 2022, the annual Veterans Day Celebration hosted by Western Reserve Hospital and the City of Cuyahoga Falls returned for the first time since 2019.
Veterans and their guests were welcomed to the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium for an honorary pinning, keynote speaker and free lunch. About 100 people attended the event, which was sponsored by the Western Reserve Hospital Senior Coalition.
Corporal Kirsten Lino, US Marine Corps, was the keynote speaker and spoke about how the Marines shaped who she is today. Dr. Robert Kent, President and CEO of Western Reserve Hospital, and Mayor Don Walters of Cuyahoga Falls presented pins to all veterans in attendance.
The Cuyahoga Falls High School choir, M-Powered, performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "Amazing Grace".
To start the day, Western Reserve Hospital held the annual Sunrise Service at the main entrance. As a veteran, Dr. Gregory Hill, Chairman, Department of Surgery, took a few minutes to reflect on his experience in the military and how it continues to shape young men and women today. Staff and veterans in attendance were presented with patriotic pins during the service.
