Kolby Adams grew up in Akron, OH and is a senior at Archbishop Hoban High School. Her artistic interest is a family legacy. Kolby’s first artistic inspiration and mentor was her paternal grandfather. He was an FBI agent but originally studied art in college. Her maternal grandmother was a nurse with a strong penchant for sketching. With this background, Kolby’s parents weren’t surprised when in the third grade she asked to sign up for an art class at Akrona Gallery. Since then, she has grown as an artist through opportunities at school, such as taking just about every art class available at Hoban, participating in the Akron-Summit Holocaust Arts & Writing contests and working for the past two years as a summer photo camp assistant to art teacher, Micah Kraus. Kolby has received several acknowledgments for her art at Hoban and beyond, including Hoban’s 2019 Purchase Prize, a Hoban subject award for Advanced Photography, Scholastic Art & Writing awards, and inclusion of her piece, Hope Through Our Humanity in a juried exhibition at Summit Art Space. She is a resident of Fairlawn, OH and intends to pursue more exhibition opportunities and will major in photography in college.
