Abby Rambler
My name is Abby Rambler. I’m a senior at Firestone High School in Akron, Ohio. Art has been an unfailing ley line for me. Between old movies, library book sales, and art museums, I’ve always loved being submerged in the worlds artists can make. As for the art I make: I work with paint, printmaking, photography, and film. But, I’m always looking for new applicants for my list! I spend a lot of time thinking about how only nature may really ever have masterpieces. I continue painting even while I think about this, though. I’m never sure why this sentiment, that I’ll never make anything as finished and gorgeous as a foggy morning sky, seems to encourage me rather than dispel my assurance. I think it has something to do with wanting to contribute to this beauty and abundance. I do know that I’ll always turn the volume up as a song fades out, just to hear how it works. I’ll forever be trying to get the color in my head out on paper. I hope to go on to study art in college and make as much as I can!

Jacqueline Kist
My name is Jacqueline Kist. I am an 18 year old artist from Akron, Ohio and am currently a senior at Firestone High School. My appreciation and love for making art began when I was a toddler in preschool, during drawing and painting time at school as well as doodling at home. I would create scenes of my family, the sky, plants, and animals. From the very beginning I chose to depict nature and people in my artwork, and to this day they are still the most prominent themes that I often include in my pieces. I have grown with my artwork over the years, developing my own style with marks, subject matter and colors as I have aged.
Although my paintings and drawings look different from the ones I made when I was in preschool, the love I carry for art has always been there, planted in my artwork with every mark I make. My favorite medium to work with is paint, however I also enjoy printmaking, photography and pencils for illustration. I enjoy creating calming color palettes in my pieces, and displaying the beauty in objects that are special to me. Art is a way I can create something beautiful with my own hands and through my own ideas, and in the process I can focus my emotions into it as well as express what I see or how something can be different from what others might see. Connecting with an audience through my artwork is something I particularly consider special. I adore the personal aspect that an artist’s pieces reveal, and the fact that artwork is made by individual artists - all with their own styles, expressions, and personal touches.
