Although art may not be able to cure diseases or heal injuries, it is able to elevate moods, improve attitudes and help patients have a better, more comfortable environment to undergo treatment in. At Western Reserve Hospital, we've partnered with local artists and supporting organizations to creating rotating art displays in our infusion rooms for those going through chemotherapy. Every 8-10 weeks, these displays rotate with new artists and art. We also offer a public gallery outside of New Choice Pharmacy. Below are some of our current featured artists and their works.

Kim Ley

Brenda Schneider

Brenda Schneider is a self-taught artist, who has been practicing making art in various media most of her life. Brenda and her husband Wayne live in Tallmadge and they have one daughter, Leann, who lives with her husband in Columbus. Brenda is accompanied in her studio by an incredibly smart and cute cat named Dame Maggie Smith. Brenda aims to share artwork that is cheerful and uncomplicated. If her art makes you smile or brings you a feeling of peace or joy, then she finds it successful.

 

 

Miriam Daniel

Miriam Daniel is an intuitive artist. Miriam looks with his eyes and heart, and in tandem, each lead his hands to create. Miriam finds great joy and peace in creating and is most inspired by nature and the life around him. Miriam often works in acrylics on canvas, but also enjoys other media including watercolor, papermaking and book arts. Miriam spends most of his time between his studio at Summit Artspace in Barberton, teaching yoga and art to kids and adults, or leading creative workshops. Joining a community of artists is a new adventure for Miriam and this venture has required a lot of courage, therefore, he calls this new venture “Brave Art.” Miriam spent the past 18 years as a teacher and literacy advocate in various elementary schools located in Ohio, Alaska and Washington. Two years ago he switched gears and became a full time creative. He is now enjoying the creative journey of an artist and teacher. Miriam is grateful for the lessons he has learned and for the kind support he has received.

Nikki Bartel

Currently a resident artist at Summit Artspace in Barberton, Nikki Bartel restarted her journey 3 years ago. Through her passion for storytelling, she incorporates prose and paint into visual art. Forever setting personal goals, she continues to push herself and tread the unknown waters. No matter how small the pebble dropped, the ripple effect has been grand. Some of those ripples have manifested into works of art leading Nikki’s art to be accepted into the Juried Fresh art show at Summit Artspace in Akron and many other venues in the surrounding areas.

Bradley Rankin

Bradley Rankin is a local artist specializing in acrylic floral paintings. Bradley has displayed his artwork in various galleries around the area and his work is also featured in Flurry’s Café, located in Cuyahoga Falls.
