Encaustic Artist: Jeanne Fashempour
Jeanne Fashempour has been making art her entire life and is a graduate of Cleveland Institute of Art. She’s been a fine artist, researcher, illustrator, designer, art director and art teacher. Now she creates what she likes: exploring mediums, colors, textures and subjects; and is currently immersed in “encaustic painting”. Encaustic painting is an ancient art medium combining bees wax and pigment, with resin added for stability. This medium dates back to 300 A.D. and the colors of those original portraits are still as vivid as when they were painted due to the preservative quality of bees wax. Jeanne teaches encaustic classes in her studio in Medina, at Peninsula Art Academy, and Artisans Corner Gallery in Newbury.
