This group of high school students have each individually picked themes and artist styles to explore creativity throughout the school year in what we call a sustained investigation. As they continue their investigation, concepts and ideas shift, morph and dig deeper into their themes and artistic skills. They each have experimented with a variety of art media and have dove into the realm of finding their artistic style and voice. Enjoy the many moods, messages, and styles these budding artists have to offer!
Alexis Ochoa is a sophomore AP art student whose work focuses on people’s love of music. Some favorite art mediums include colored pencils, watercolor, and mixed media. When she grows up she hopes to do something with music. In her free time, she enjoys playing her flute and chilling with her dogs and horses. She is in Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.
Braewyn Hammontree is a junior AP art student whose work focuses on urban features and architecture through structure and lighting. Some favorite art mediums include gouache and acrylic. In the future, Braewyn is thinking about studying to become an architect in college. In her spare time, she enjoys listening to music and finding new inspiration for art on Pinterest.
Benjamin Ehrhardt is a senior AP art student who is focusing on expressing motion in the mediums of drawing and painting. He mostly prefers using pencils, markers, and brushes with ink. In the future Benjamin hopes to obtain a degree in graphic design, which could lead to a variety of careers including animation or game design.
Jo Jensen is a senior AP art student whose work focuses on how things age, primarily old buildings. Some favorite art mediums include photography, acrylic paint, and oil paint. In the future, Jo hopes to study photography and become a freelance photographer. In their spare time, Jo enjoys being a jazz band and drama club member.
Jeremiah Newsom is a senior AP art student who focuses on representing a realistic subject in contrast to a more pop-art background. His favorite mediums include alcohol markers, and colored pencil. In the future, Jeremiah plans to study architecture at Kent State University. Besides school and art, he enjoys throwing shot put and discus and taking hikes in the woods.
Lucie Thomas is a sophomore AP art student whose work focuses on the importance of color and contrasting the emotions color can bring. Some favorite art mediums include watercolor and colored pencil. In the future Lucie hopes to study radiology and sonography. In her spare time she enjoys playing with her Junior Olympic volleyball team and being outside.
Farah Dahllon is a senior AP art student whose work focuses on human emotions in different scenarios. Some favorite art mediums include acrylic and mixed media. In the future, Farah hopes to study medicine to become a Psychiatrist. In her spare time she enjoys doing art for fun and is a member of Drama Club and Art Club.
Ace Cook is a senior at Woodridge High School who enjoys working with watercolor and exploring how color and space are used in visual art. Aside from visual arts, Ace also enjoys opera singing, writing, and the study of international politics. In the future they hope to further their studies (mostly by reading great sci-fi novels).
Dahlia Jacobs is a senior in AP Art who is beginning to branch out with different uses of 3D art. Her favorite mediums include clay and acrylic paint. Dahlia hopes to pursue a career in the film industry. Outside of AP Art, Dahlia is involved with Drama and Art Club and FCCLA.
Paige Powell is a senior AP art student whose work focuses on how time effects different things, such as humans, emotions, objects, and places. Some favorite art mediums include copic markers, prismacolor pencils, charcoal, and oil paint. In the future Paige Powell will study architecture at either Pratt or Kent to become an architect.
Nishat Shawn is a Junior AP Art student. Conceptually she likes to focus on people and their interests, whether it is people in action, capturing a profile, or having anatomy in practice. She most enjoys practicing drawing and sketching. Her favorite mediums are mainly acrylic and mixed media. Nishat wishes to apply and attend the University of Cincinnati to make advances either under career choices of Science or Art.
Morgan Clarke is a senior AP art student who likes to explore new ways to create art. This year has been all about trying different materials and new creative ideas. She likes joyful art and expressing happy things in her artwork. Morgan works a lot with her church and is going to college to become a nurse.
