Curriculum
Throughout the three year program, the WRH Podiatric Medicine and Surgery residents manage various Podiatric inpatients, participate in outpatient clinic experiences, various wound care centers, and are performing surgical cases at six different surgical centers or hospitals in the area most days of the week. They will also complete at least one research paper.
The majority of off service rotations are completed during the 1st year of residency. These rotations include but are not limited to Internal Medicine, Emergency Department, General Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Pathology and Microbiology, Psychology, Wound Care, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Infectious Disease and Pain Management.
As the resident progresses through their residency they will also be responsible for the knowledge and management of more advanced clinical and surgical patients and cases. Second and Third year residents will also be responsible for running the resident clinic one day a week with Dr. Campitelli. By the end of their residency, residents will feel comfortable with performing various forefoot and hindfoot procedures independently.
Didactics
Throughout each year, there are numerous didactic activities which are required. There are weekly board review sessions and radiology conferences, monthly journal club, and periodic hands-on surgical workshops. Residents also have access to the Podiatry PRESENT online learning resources and are expected to review a topic each week. There are also grand rounds and tumor board sessions available to residents to expand their interdisciplinary knowledge.
